Karin Rindevall draws Ted

Teddy and the Yeti colorist Karin Rindevall recently undertook an ambition challenge of drawing 365 different characters in one year (at least, I think that was the story).  It was awesome to see that Ted made the list at #302!  I've posted that particular entry above, but do yourself a favor and check out some of Karin's other work over at her website.  In addition to coloring the heck out of Teddy and the Yeti as well as some other related projects, Karin also had a pinup in Teddy and the Yeti #3.  Oh, and she's totally Swedish, which any way you look at it is cool.  It is!  It's a fact.

Check out more of Karin's 365 characters here and visit the homepage here!  Thanks, Karin!

unexpected art

Mike Harvey, a friend of mine since middle school (...six years ago...), surprised me with this painting a few days ago.  Mike is a talented guy, but I never knew he had much skill in the way of art, even though we totally put a three page comic together a long time ago featuring a clay sculpted caveman titled "Primordial Soup".  Mike drew a picture of a caveman eating soup for a masthead-like panel and I added the caption "Needs more amoeba."  Perhaps I'll post it here one day if I can dig it up.

Anyway, Mike is obviously going for a Mini-Marvels vibe for this portrait of the Yeti, which I'm really liking.  This is going to serve as the pinup for Teddy and the Yeti #4...so I guess I completely ruined that surprise.  But I've been enjoying it a lot since I've gotten it...and now everyone else can, too.  Thanks, Mike.

An unexpected pinup.

Karin Rindevall has been a colorist on Teddy and the Yeti since there WAS a Teddy and the Yeti to be colored, and she recently surprised me with a fun little pinup of the characters. Never has the Yeti looked more cute.

Karin's not just a fantastic colorist, but as you can see here she's got her own distinct style with her drawing as well. I can't quite put my finger on the exact reason I like it so much (and I do), but I will say she mixes an Asian and European style (in my opinion) together better than anyone I've seen before. You can check out more of Karin's work here and here!

pinup

Here's a new pinup of Teddy and the Yeti from Mario Wytch, artist on Arcana's upcoming Kutter Blaque. A colored version of this will show up in the second issue of the book! This is what Ted would look like if he decided to grow a beard. Awesome.

That is all.

Speaking of 2099...

Here's a sketch of Spider-Man 2099 that my buddy, the enigmatic "Artboy_X" (mysterious!) drew for me last year.  The man is returning to the states in just a few weeks after spending a year in South Korea as part of his Army training.  It seemed appropriate to post this now.  How flexible you must be, Miguel O'Hara!
